PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Freshmen Ellyse Hamlin and Kaitlyn McCarthy remained perfect at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Sunday afternoon, with each securing a spot in the qualifying singles draw of the one-week tournament in Pacific Palisades, Calif. A finalized qualifying singles draw is scheduled for release Monday.
McCarthy, a native of Cary, N.C., defeated her opponent, Caroline Wegner of TCU in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5. McCarthy has not dropped a contest in her college career, and currently owns a perfect 6-0 record this season.
Hamlin outlasted her opponent, Alexis Casati of Illinois, over three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
