Duke opened ACC play in thrilling, but heart-breaking fashion this past weekend in a 12-11 overtime loss to No. 5 Syracuse. The 11th-ranked Blue Devils held an 11-9 lead after a Justin Guterding goal, but couldn’t hold off a comeback from the resilient Orange. It was the second straight overtime victory for Syracuse and the sixth one-goal game it has played this season, going 5-1. Meanwhile, Duke is 1-2 this season in games decided by one goal and 19-13 in those games under head coach John Danowski.
