DURHAM, N.C. - Former Duke standout and current New York Red Bulls forward Mike Grella scored the fastest goal in Major League Soccer (MLS) history Sunday during a 4-1 win against the Philadelphia Union as the Red Bulls earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
After being selected by Toronto FC in the third round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, Grella chose to play in Europe for Leeds United. Following Grella’s successful European trek, he joined the Carolina Railhawks of the North American Soccer League before landing a spot with the Red Bulls.
