Patrick Beilein, who took over at Niagara in March, has resigned before coaching a game.
Belein, just 36 and coming off of back surgery, said he did so with “heavy regret,” but that he had to to give singular focus” to “these issues, so that I can become the man that I strive to be.”
We’ll have to wait to see what those issues are but given the age we are in you can probably make a few reasonable inferences from the way he structured that explanation.
So that means that former Duke point guard Greg Paulus, also 36, is now a head coach as Niagara has promoted him on an interim basis.
