Duke legend Grant Hill has a great new job: he’ll be succeeding Jerry Colangelo as USA Basketball Men’s National Team Managing Director.
He has some big shoes to fill.
Colangelo, who is now 81, will step down after the Tokyo Olympics and after having done a brilliant job of rebuilding America’s international basketball presence.
When he took over, the US was floundering in the game it invented, with European and South American teams not just winning but at times mocking Team USA.
Colangelo and Mike Krzyzewski, who was hired at the strong urging of the late Dean Smith, by the way, rebuilt USA Basketball to the point where people began to expect to lose again.
