DURHAM, N.C.-- As the Duke women’s basketball team prepares to start the 2018-19 season, freshman Miela Goodchild is also preparing to hit the floor as a member of a different squad. Selected to play on the Australian U18 team, Goodchild is set to compete in the FIBA U18 Women’s Asian Championship in India starting this Sunday.
While Goodchild is gone with her native country, she will miss 10 Blue Devil practices, including a Nov. 4 exhibition contest with Alaska Anchorage. She will return to campus the evening of the exhibition and will return to Duke practice the week of the regular season opener against Northwestern.
