BANGKOK, Thailand – With a 63-51 victory over Mali, Duke’s Miela Goodchild and her Australian Gems squad advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Friday in Bangkok, Thailand. The Gems will next take on Spain, who took down China, 55-52, in the quarterfinals.
The semifinal contest will take place Saturday, July 27.
Australia jumped out to a 15-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and the Gems would take a 28-25 lead into the halftime break. Australia outscored Mali, 35-28, in the second half to total their fourth straight victory in the event.
