DURHAM, N.C. – The 1941 Duke Football Most Valuable Player trophy and a 1942 Rose Bowl participation trophy were donated to Duke Athletics during a reception for the Goddard family on Monday morning. The late Pete Goddard was tabbed the MVP of the 1941 squad and his trophy, as well as that season's Rose Bowl participation trophy, were given back to the Blue Devils.
A gathering of Duke Athletics staff members and the Goddard Family took place in the DeJoy Family Club level of Blue Devil Tower on Monday. The pair of trophies will remain in the DeJoy Family Club level's trophy case.
