Well here’s some interesting news: Duke legend Gene Banks has a new job: he’s the AD at Gaston College and he’s the first new AD there in 50 years.
Great continuity?
Not exactly.
Gaston hasn’t had an athletics program in 50 years. However, they do have one very notable alum: Leonard Hamilton spent two years there before transferring to a four-year school, UT-Martin.
Banks seems effusive about the hire, saying this: “I am joining Gaston College to strive to achieve athletics excellence. This is a truly remarkable opportunity to design a program from scratch and combine top-notch athletics with a unique community partnership approach.
