DURHAM, N.C. – Leading Duke by averaging 23.5 points in a pair of wins last week, freshman guard Gary Trent, Jr., has earned a pair of weekly honors from the ACC, being named the Rookie of the Week and co-Player of the Week.
Trent poured in a career-high 30 points in Monday’s win at No. 25 Miami, and followed with 17 points in the win over Pitt, his ninth straight game with double-digit points.
The freshman led Duke’s late-game rally at Miami by scoring 13 points in the final eight minutes on perfect shooting (3-for-3 from three-point range and 4-for-4 from the foul line), as the Blue Devils overcame a 13-point deficit to win 83-75.
