INDIA — Powered by a game-high 27 points from Duke University women’s basketball freshman Miela Goodchild, Australia improved to 2-0 at the FIBA U18 Women’s Asian Championship Monday in India.
Australia totaled a 106-66 victory over Chinese Taipei, a day after cruising to a 96-28 win over Indonesia. In Monday’s win, the Gems opened the game with a 35-23 lead in the first quarter and then outscored Chinese Taipei, 26-13, in the second quarter to lead 61-36 at the halftime break.
Goodchild, who hails from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, totaled a game-high 27 points to go along with 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 24 minutes.
