JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Duke University incoming freshmen tandem of Megan Furtney and Erica Shepherd advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball competition over the weekend, after carding a nine-under-par ledger in 36 holes.
Furtney and Shepherd tied for fourth overall with 68 and 67 for a nine-under-par, 135. On Sunday, the Blue Devil duo carded six birdies over their final 11 holes on their way to shooting tied for the second-lowest round of the day. Over the two days of stroke play qualifying, Furtney/Shepherd collected 11 birdies and only two bogeys.
