TULSA, Okla. – Sophomore Spencer Furman and redshirt junior Nicolas Alvarez both won their opening round singles matches in the main draw of the Saint Francis ITA Men’s All-American Championships on Thursday.
Furman, ranked No. 44 in the fall Oracle/ITA ledger, downed Tim Ruehl of Arizona State 6-4, 7-5. No. 34 Alvarez, playing his first collegiate match in 11 months, came back to defeat Georgia's Nathan Ponwith, ranked No. 32, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. The two will play in the Round of 16 on Friday.
