DURHAM, N.C. – Junior back Sarah Furey collected Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week honors Wednesday after helping the Duke field hockey team turn in two more solid defensive performances over the weekend.
A three-year starter in the Blue Devils’ backfield, Furey helped guide the squad to a 6-2 win over No. 15 Boston College and a 2-1 defeat of No. 13 Boston University. She was key in keeping the Eagles off the board for over 57 minutes in Friday’s matchup, and was part of a unit that limited Boston College to just three penalty corners and six shots on goal.
