DURHAM – The freshman class of the Duke baseball program was tabbed ninth in Baseball America's freshman class rankings, announced by the organization on Wednesday morning.
The ranking was the highest Duke ranking in the 22 seasons that Baseball America has produced freshman rankings. The Blue Devils' class was the second highest in the ACC.
Alex Mooney highlighted the Duke class as the shortstop was ranked No. 65 in Baseball America's top 500 draft prospects in June. Left-handed pitcher and outfielder Jonathan Santucci (437), right-handed pitcher Ryan Higgins (457) and right-handed pitcher Fran Oschell (499) rounded out Duke's freshmen on the rankings.
