DURHAM, N.C. – Jason Cooper, who served as a captain of Duke’s football team in 1987, passed away this past Saturday at his home in Connecticut. He was 52.
Cooper, who lettered four seasons on the gridiron for the Blue Devils, also was a two-year letterman as a member of Duke’s lacrosse program. A tight end from New Canaan, Conn., Cooper played in 40 games during his career from 1984-87 and recorded 52 pass receptions for 986 yards and five touchdowns.
