DURHAM, N.C. – The United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX) held its 2017 draft Monday evening, with 2014 Duke graduate Taylor Virden among those selected to take part in the professional league’s second season.
A defensive standout while at Duke, Virden was drafted by the UWLX’s Baltimore Ride. She became the third Blue Devil to enter the league after 2011 graduate Sarah Bullard and 2016 graduate Maddy Acton both played for the Boston Storm during the inaugural season.
Virden was a two-time first team All-America selection during her collegiate career and the first Duke player to earn back-to-back first team All-America honors since 2009.
