The San Francisco 49ers recently announced that backup quarterback and former Blue Devil Thad Lewis will miss the 2016 NFL season after tearing his ACL in a preseason game against the Houston Texans over the weekend. Lewis was heading into his seventh NFL season.
Thaddeus Lewis graduated from Duke in 2010 and was picked up by the St. Louis Rams after going undrafted after his senior season. Lewis did not see any game action with the Rams, but played in his first NFL game in 2012 with the Cleveland Browns. Lewis has also been on the roster for the Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, and now with the 49ers.
