Former Blue Devil Elizabeth Williams Wins WNBA Cares Award

The Women’s National Basketball Association gives a monthly award to a player who makes a difference in their community. The most recent recipient of the award for June was Atlanta Dream center and former Blue Devil Elizabeth Williams.

Williams has been very active in the Atlanta community, helping support the local youth and various education programs. She has volunteered at the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, the Conyers Public Library, and Meadowcreek High School to help stress the importance of education and literacy to students.

Elizabeth Williams had a historic career for Duke Women’s Basketball, earning numerous accolades with the Blue Devils including the 2012 NCAA Freshman of the Year, a four-time All-American, the four-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year and all-conference team selection, and the 2015 National Defensive Player of the Year.
