DURHAM, N.C. – Members of the Duke football program spent part of Tuesday evening teaming with the university’s Sanitation and Recycling department as part of another zero waste initiative. The Blue Devils used 30,000 bags to make 10,000 game day zero waste packets for distribution this fall.
The packets consisted of a trash bag, recycling bag and compost bag with a rubber band and flyer. The packets will be distributed by volunteers on game days in the Duke parking lots this fall to educate tailgaters on what items go in what bag.
The goal is to continue the zero waste success of 2015 and complete an entirely zero waste season in 2016.
