DURHAM, N.C.—Two names that go hand in hand in Duke lacrosse history are Jimmy Regan and Casey Carroll. While they both came to play lacrosse at Duke from Long Island, they never played together nor knew each other. However, it was Jimmy Regan's death in Iraq in 2007 while he was serving as an Army Ranger that inspired Carroll to take a similar path into serving his country.
Carroll's path from Duke to becoming an Army Ranger to returning to the Blue Devils with a final year of eligibility is well documented and one that is awe-inspiring.
