DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke wrestler Mitch Finesilver recently won a bronze medal at the 2021 European Wrestling Championships in Warsaw, Poland.
Finesilver competed under the Israeli flag, delivering the country its first medal of the event and the 11th in its history at the event.
Finesilver competed in the men's freestyle 74kg division, opening the event with an 8-2 victory over Bulgaria's David Alizalau to advance to the quarterfinals. He fell to eventual silver medalist Miroslav Kirov of Bulgaria 8-3 during his next match but continued to battle in the 'repechage' or wrestleback bracket.
