Chances are strong that, as the only No. 1 seed remaining in the field, North Carolina will come away with the title in this year’s Final Four.
Top seeds have won 20 of 37 men’s national championships since seeding began in 1979. Ten of the last 15 titles were won by a No. 1 seed, including Duke last season.
Should UNC win its sixth NCAA title, it would mark the third time the Blue Devils and Tar Heels captured back-to-back NCAA championships. Duke won in 1991 and 1992, followed by Carolina in 1993. UNC won in 2009, followed by the Devils in 2010.
