RIO DE JANEIRO – After moving up to fifth in the International Hockey Federation (FIH) world rankings last month, the U.S. women’s national field hockey team looks to contend for a podium finish at the 2016 Olympic Games. Former Blue Devil Stefanie Fee and the U.S. squad open group play Saturday at 4 p.m. ET against Argentina.
All Olympic field hockey matches will be held at the Olympic Hockey Centre in Rio de Janeiro.
The U.S. women’s national team will compete in its third consecutive Olympic Games. Team USA garnered a 12th-place finish in the 2012 Olympic Games in London and has previously captured one medal, a bronze, at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.
