DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the rest of the Duke basketball program welcomed, with open arms, Jeff Capel Jr.—the father of associate head coach Jeff Capel III—to the bench for their matchup against Wake Forest last Saturday.
Capel Jr., who was diagnosed with ALS last March, has been around basketball for his entire life, coaching at both the NCAA and NBA levels. Ironically enough, his career begin with a stint at Wake Forest, where he would serve as an assistant before transitioning to the head coach position at Old Dominion.
