Explosive Sixth Inning Pushes No. 10 Duke Past UNC Greensboro, 8-1

DURHAM – An explosive sixth inning helped lift No. 10 Duke softball (37-8, 13-5 ACC) to an 8-1 victory over UNC Greensboro (26-18, 5-3 SoCon) Wednesday night at Duke Softball Stadium.

Freshman D'Auna Jennings extends her career-best hitting streak to seven games after batting 4-for-4 with three RBI against the Spartans. Junior pitcher Jala Wright improves to 10-4 on the year after giving up just one run on two hits in her 6.0 innings of work.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior Francesca Frelick opened the scoring in the bottom of the second after sending a base hit deep into right field to score classmate Kelly Torres and freshman Kairi Rodriguez, who each reached on a single through the right side.
