CHULA VISTA, CALIF. – Following an opening round that left the team in the bottom third of the field, Duke managed to round out day one of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic tied for eighth sitting on top of a 578 stroke total.
Freshman Chandler Eaton—despite hitting a 73 (+1) through his first 18—finished Monday with a team-best 141 (-3) that left him tied for sixth after reeling in a 68 (-4) in round two. Four bogeys in the first round would not deter the Alpharetta, Ga. native, as he would go on to secure five birdies in the second round, showing great poise and recovery for a freshman.
