Duke freshman Leona Maguire was recently named the winner of the 2015 ANNIKA Award, given to the National Player of the Year in women’s golf voted by NCAA Division I coaches, student-athletes, and media members. Maguire was presented the award during the NCAA Championships in Brandenton, FL.
Leona Maguire had an excellent season with the Blue Devils, also earning ACC Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year honors for her performance this season. She made school records with a 70.78 stroke average, 3 match wins in her first season, and 24 finishes at or under par while tying for 2nd with 9 top-5 finishes in tournaments this year.
