Duke dug itself a hole in the last four games and in order to get out of the hole the Blue Devils needed to win its last two games of the season to make a bowl game, starting on Saturday night on the road against Wake Forest.
On Saturday night it was the Demon Deacons who dug themselves a hole in the early going, seeing Duke jump out to a 10-3 lead but Wake Forest would score the next 17 points unanswered en route to its 39-27 victory.
While the Duke offense looked better on Saturday, to an extent, a majority of the points came on two 98-yard kick returns for touchdowns by Damond Philyaw-Johnson.
