Duke Women’s Soccer Falls to Penn State in National Championship Game

The Blue Devils’ NCAA Tournament run fell just short as the Duke Women’s Soccer team lost to Penn State 1-0 in the national title game. Duke will finish as the women’s soccer runner-ups after missing out on the tournament last season.

Duke played great for the majority of the game with both teams finishing tied with 11 shots and the defense not allowing a goal until the 71st minute of the game, which would become the only goal scored for either team. Several Blue Devils were honored for their performances throughout the tournament, with sophomore goalie EJ Proctor earning the Most Outstanding Player on Defense award while Proctor, Toni Payne, Kayla McCoy, and Christina Gibbons were all added to the All-Tournament team.
