DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 5 Duke field hockey team begins the ACC Championship Thursday in a top-five quarterfinal showdown against No. 4 Virginia at the Boston College Field Hockey Field in Newton, Mass., at 5 p.m.
The Blue Devils enter the ACC Championship as the six seed, while Virginia enters tournament play as the three-seed.
Earlier this season, these two teams met in Charlottesville, Va., on Oct. 18 in a nail biter that saw Virginia defeat Duke, 3-2, in overtime. The Cavaliers pulled their goalie and tied the game up at 2-2 with just 1:02 left in regulation and secured the victory early in extra time.
