ATHENS, Ga. – In its first NCAA postseason appearance, the No. 13-seeded Duke softball team picked up a 2-0 victory against UNC Greensboro to open the Athens Regional on Friday afternoon at Jack Turner Stadium.
The Blue Devils (43-10) capitalized early, scoring a run in both the first and second innings, and used strong pitching to hold off the Spartans (34-16). Each team recorded four hits as junior Deja Davis, sophomore Gisele Tapia and junior Kyla Morris singled while junior Caroline Jacobsen hit a home run for Duke.
