DURHAM, N.C. – In a pitcher's duel on Saturday afternoon, Duke softball fell short as Notre Dame scored one run in the sixth inning to win, 1-0, at the Duke Softball Stadium.
The loss puts the Blue Devils at 14-4 on the season and 0-2 in league play. The Fighting Irish take a 2-0 lead in the series, improving their overall season record to 12-5.
Junior Brianna Butler (4-2) hurled seven complete innings, letting up four hits, one walk and one run while picking up two strikeouts. Notre Dame's Peyton Tidd (4-1) held the Blue Devils to only two hits and garnered five K's.
