DURHAM, N.C. – The fifth-ranked Duke women’s tennis team concluded the 2019 season with three singles players and three doubles teams appearing among those ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), as announced by the organization Wednesday.
Sophomore Kelly Chen highlighted the Duke contingent of ranked singles players and finished the year ranked No. 8 in the country.
Chen recently reached the semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championship in Orlando, Fla., and finished the year with a 35-9 overall ledger. Chen defeated 18 ranked opponents during the season playing Duke’s second and third courts that included three higher ranked foes during the individual championship.
