Generally seen as a 5 star recruit, Keels was a high school teammate of Duke point guard Jeremy Roach at Paul VI Catholic High in Chantilly, Virginia.
Keels cited his relatinonship with Mike Krzyzewski as the difference, saying on ESPN “[t]hat relationship I had with Coach K was different.”
He’ll add outstanding shooting to a team that could use another shooter. Given the way things are right now it’s impossible to say for sure who will be back, but Matthew Hurt may well opt for the NBA and that would leave Roach Joey Baker and Wendell Moore as likely the best three point shooters returning, so Keels will have a role from Day One, assuming he can fully embrace it.
