Duke Football ended their season with a victory in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, defeating the Indiana Hoosiers in overtime 44-41. After their historic performance in the Pinstripe Bowl, the Blue Devils finished the season receiving 3 votes in the final AP college football poll of the season.
Duke’s three votes turns out to be basically the equivalent of finishing 35th in the NCAA for the season. The team finished the year with a winning record at 8-5 and won the program’s first postseason bowl game since 1961. Additionally the Blue Devils went into the Pinstripe Bowl as the underdog with most experts picking Indiana to win coming from the Big Ten, but they were able to make key stops and keep up with the Hoosier’s dynamic offense to hang on for the win after a missed field goal attempt.
