DURHAM, N.C. – For the 20th time in program history, the Duke volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, as announced by the organization Wednesday.
First instituted in 1992, the AVCA Team Academic Award goes to collegiate and high school volleyball programs that maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.30 for the academic year.
Duke was one of 11 ACC schools to earn the honor in 2023, joining Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia and Wake Forest.
10 Blue Devils – Christina Barrow, Madison Bryant, Lizzie Fleming, Gracie Johnson, Kerry Keefe, Millie Muir, Rachel Richardson, Jess Robinson, Nikki Underwood and Emma Worthington – earned All-ACC Academic Team distinction this year, while 14 members of the Duke volleyball team earned a spot on the 2023-24 ACC Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a GPA of 3.
