DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke track & field program traveled to Raleigh, N.C., to open the Raleigh Relays Friday at the Paul Derr Track and posted several ACC qualifying performances.
Today’s action was highlighted by junior Ben Beatty’s huge personal-best mark in the shot put. Beatty was the lone Blue Devil competing in the shot put competition and posted a second-place finish with a mark of 17.62m (57-9.75), the fifth-best toss in Duke history. Beatty’s previous personal best was 16.43m as he posted an ACC qualifying mark Friday.
Cassie Martin also saw a solid day in her field event, the high jump.
