The Opening Hit
- Duke opens NCAA Championship action in Chapel Hill, Nov. 15 against Maryland. The Blue Devils and Terrapins square off at 1:30, in Karen Shelton Stadium. Both Duke and Maryland earned at-large bids following a successful regular season and solid outing in their respective conference championships. Duke defeated Maryland, 1-0, in the regular season.
- Duke is 8-2 in its last 10 games with all seven of the eight victories being shutouts. The Blue Devils are 26-19 all-time in NCAA Championship action and 15-4 in first-round games. This will be Duke's 20th NCAA appearance in NCAA postseason action and sixth matchup against the Terrapins.
