Former Duke basketball coach Neill McGeachy passed away early Friday morning at the age of 75.
McGeachy coached the Blue Devils during the 1973-74 season, compiling a 10-16 overall record and a 2-10 mark in the ACC. He served as an assistant under Bucky Waters before replacing Waters in 1973. McGeachy was replaced by Bill Foster.
McGeachy, who graduated from Lenior-Rhyne in 1965, also had assistant coaching jobs with Davidson and Wake Forest. He returned to his alma mater in 2002 as Director of Athletics and held that position until his retirement in 2016.
