DURHAM, N.C. – After opening the 2016 season with a 20-4 victory over Campbell Thursday, the fourth-ranked Duke women’s lacrosse team returns to Koskinen Stadium Sunday for an early season top-five matchup. The Blue Devils host No. 5 Northwestern at 12 p.m. on Blue Devil Network Plus.
Duryea, Defense Debut Strong in 2016
Senior goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea and the Blue Devil defense turned in a solid showing Thursday, limiting the Camels to just four tallies … Duryea surrendered just two goals in a little over 53 minutes of action, and notched six saves to go along with six ground balls … Junior defender Maura Schwitter corralled a career-best four draw controls, including one that set up the first goal of her career … The defensive unit kept Campbell off the board for a 40-minute stretch, allowing Duke to rattle off 11 unanswered scores.
