DURHAM, N.C.— On Thursday, the Duke men’s and women’s golf programs held a Birdies for Babies program kickoff at the Duke Golf Club. Members of the media, Blue Devil golf student-athletes, coaches and Duke Children’s Hospital staff and doctors came out to reflect on the first year of the program and the excitement going forward. The program benefits the Duke Children’s Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.
After women’s golf senior Virginia Elena Carta created the program last year, through generous donations Birdies for Babies raised $10,565. With the addition of the men’s golf program in 2018-19, hopes are that the donations will continue to rise.
