CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Duke men’s tennis team began the Charlotte 49ers Fall Invitational with a 3-0 singles mark and 2-2 doubles record. All three Blue Devils who took part in singles advanced to the quarterfinals and both doubles teams will play in the consolation finals Saturday.
Leading the way in singles was freshman Spencer Furman, who made his singles debut on Friday with a 6-0, 7-6 (2) victory against Ricky Saad of Davidson. Furman, the No. 1 seed in the A1 flight, will face Wood Benton of South Carolina at 10 a.
