DURHAM – Duke earned its first ACC win of the season on Sunday after it defeated Virginia Tech, 5-2, at Ambler Tennis Stadium.
The Blue Devils improve to 8-4 on the year, while the Hokies dip to 4-9.
"I was very pleased with our resilience this weekend," Duke head coach Ramsey Smith said. "We lost a tough match Friday and then lost the doubles point today in a tiebreaker on court two. The guys stepped up and grabbed the momentum back in the beginning of singles and never let go. It all started with captain Andrew Zhang winning convincingly against Hugo Maia who beat him last year at Virginia Tech.
