CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Duke rowing team opened the fall season with a second-place showing in the club 4+ race at the Head of the Charles regatta Saturday.
The Blue Devils posted a finishing time of 18:27.037, less than one second off the pace of winner Calgary Rowing Club. They drastically closed a 23-second deficit at the halfway point on the Charles River. Duke earned the top time by a university in a field of 54 entrants.
"The boat had a great race and finished first among the university teams and second overall," assistant coach Kendall Schmidt said.
