DURHAM – Virginia Tech's Maura O'Malley scored in the third overtime to send Virginia Tech past No. 20 Duke, 14-13, Saturday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium.
O'Malley was quiet all afternoon before notching the tying goal to send it to overtime with two seconds remaining and then the eventual game winner in the third overtime.
Katie DeSimone and Lexi Schmalz each recorded hat tricks to pace the offense in the setback as Schmalz led all scorers with four points.
