BLACKSBURG, Va. – Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 11th, Virginia Tech’s JD Mundy sent a walkoff RBI single to left center to lift the Hokies over No. 13 Duke, 4-3, Friday evening at English Field at Union Park.
Virginia Tech (18-24, 8-14 ACC) led 3-1 entering the eighth before Griffin Conine’s two-out, two-run double tied the game. The two teams battled through two scoreless innings before Mundy’s second hit of the ballgame ended the affair.
Hokie starter Ian Seymour retired the first nine Blue Devils he faced before Jimmy Herron’s leadoff double in the fourth.
