PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Duke baseball team dropped the series-opener to Pittsburgh, 14-4, on Saturday at Charles L. Cost Field in Pittsburgh.
The Blue Devils (19-25, 8-14 ACC) were out-hit by Pittsburgh (25-18, 11-10 ACC), 7-15, in the contest.
Freshman Alex Mooney recorded Duke's lone multi-hit day. Mooney finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base. He extended his hitting streak to seven consecutive games.
Rookie Jonathan Santucci started on the mound for Duke. The Leominster, Mass., native was tagged with six runs, five earned, on eight hits and two walks.
