CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—North Carolina freshman goaltender Caton Johnson made 21 saves and the Tar Heels held fifth-ranked Duke scoreless in the fourth quarter to upend the Blue Devils 10-8 in ACC men’s lacrosse action at Fetzer Field Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 8-6 late in the third quarter, North Carolina (7-3, 1-0) scored the game’s final four goals to pick up the win in its 2019 ACC opener. The Blue Devils fall to 8-3 overall and 0-2 against conference foes.
The Tar Heels got off to a quick start with a pair of goals 2:17 into the game and extended the lead to three, 5-2, early in the second quarter.
