Duke Falls to No. 5 Virginia on the Road

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Duke men’s tennis team was tied 2-2 with three courts remaining, however, was unable to outlast the No. 5 Virginia Cavaliers and lost 4-2 at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center Friday afternoon.

Virginia improved to 15-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play, while Duke fell to 7-11 overall and 1-6 in the ACC.

In doubles play, Virginia earned the first victory on court one as Henrik Wiersholm and Brandon Nakashima defeated junior Nick Stachowiak and senior Jason Lapidus 6-2. On court three, juniors Spencer Furman and Robert Levine took a 5-4 lead over Gianni Ross and Aswin Lizen, however, the Cavalier duo bounced back to tie the game at five all.
